Responsible for restructuring the North American Environmental Compliance program for a $10B global chemical distribution company and managing a multi-million-dollar budget and nine direct-reports. Functional responsibilities include oversight of environmental compliance, product compliance and international trade compliance for a distribution network of 100+ US facilities engaged in blending, repackaging and distributing chemicals. Since 2019, expanded responsibility includes strategic leadership of global EHS alignment efforts against the North American framework.

  • Moved decentralized and reactive functions to a system based EHS platform in North America, shifting support in 2019 towards global alignment through a systematic approach.

  • Corporate lead for Department of Homeland Security (Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards) compliance.

  • Management of local SCAQMD Rules including: Rule 1158 (particulate emissions of coke, coal, and sulfur), Rule 1166 (soil excavation emissions), Rule 1123 (refinery process turnarounds), Rule 109 (VOC usage), Rule 1140 (abrasive blasting), Rule 1155 (PM control devices), Rule 465 (refinery vacuum producing devices), and Rule 701 (air pollution emergency contingency actions).

  • Refinery Environmental Turnaround Lead providing procedures, training, and guidance to onsite employees and contractors to maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations pertinent to turnaround activity. Implemented cost savings program to reduce turnaround waste expenditures per event by $250,000.
